Why I like to lift heavy.

Gains are always temporary in strength training.

You don’t keep what you’ve earned. It requires consistent work to maintain and grit to improve.

Injury is always a possibility but its about finding your home in the risk/reward spectrum.

Each person will have their own motivations but lifting heavy exhibits these universal truths:

  • it’s challenging;

  • it requires time and dedication; and

  • it’s a skill.

Some say this is hard work. But that’s the point.

Hard work produces outsized results.

Hard work produces satisfaction.

Hard work provides fulfilment.

Hard work energises the soul.

A heavy barbell doesn’t discriminate. You can lift it or you can’t. If you can’t lift it, you ask whether you’re willing to do the work.

If you are willing - you have shown resilience, consistency and a willingness to learn.

Successful traits that carry over to other parts of life.

That’s why I like to lift heavy.
